Lake Police foil woman’s suicide bid
The Lake Police saved a woman who tried to commit suicide by jumping into Tank Bund late on Sunday night. Around 10.30 pm, 33-year-old Chandrakala was seen wandering near Lepakshi. Minutes later, she began walking into the water, police said. A constable and a home guard attached to Lake Police spotted the woman and rushed to her rescue.

Minutes later, she began walking into the water, police said. A constable and a home guard attached to Lake Police spotted the woman and rushed to her rescue.
They caught hold of the woman and dragged her to safety even as she tried to free herself from them. She was later counselled and sent back to her family at Phool Bagh in Indira Park. “She appears to be mentally depressed as her husband incurred a heavy loss in his business. Her husband’s brother, Raghavendra, thrashed her husband Srinivas after a heated argument over purchase of a vehicle. Unable to take the humiliation, she tried to end her life,” Lake Police inspector Janakamma said.
