Two held with 1,414 pirated DVDs, CDs
As many as 1,414 pirated DVDs and CDs were seized by the Task Force (West) police from Punjagutta area on Tuesday. Two persons identified as Syed Ayub Ahmed, 35, a resident of Kalapathar and M Rajender Singh, 57, of Ghode Ki Khabar were arrested in this connection.
Hyderabad: As many as 1,414 pirated DVDs and CDs were seized by the Task Force (West) police from Punjagutta area on Tuesday. Two persons identified as Syed Ayub Ahmed, 35, a resident of Kalapathar and M Rajender Singh, 57, of Ghode Ki Khabar were arrested in this connection.
Acting on a tip-off, the sleuths of the Task Force, raided a shop in Hussainialam on Tuesday. They found Ayub and Rajender trying to sell pirated DVDs of latest released films to customers. They were later booked under Copyright Act. “Ayub used to purchase pirated DVDs from one Raghavender at Rs 25 and sell the same to customers at Rs 50. They were also engaged in illegally duplicating latest DVD releases and distributing them to wholesale and retail dealers,” DCP (TF), B Limba Reddy said, adding that efforts are being made to nab Raghavender, who is absconding.
