Locals found her body with her head bludgeoned on Monday morning and alerted the police. “We are yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder,” inspector N Vasu said. A murder case has been registered. Youth hangs self. A 22-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of his house in Sainikpuri, police said on Monday.

According to Neredmet police, the deceased identified as Raju, a private employee of a hospital, was living with his parents at Ambedkar Nagar in Sainikpuri. The body was discovered by Ramesh, brother of Raju, who alerted the police. Raju was going through severe depression due to some financial issues. He was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his room in the early hours of Monday.

Police suspect that depression coupled with financial stress could possibly be the reason for him taking the extreme step. Police said a suicide note, purportedly written by Raju, was found at the spot saying ‘sorry’ to parents. The body has been shifted to Gandhi mortuary for post-mortem examination. A day after CCTV footage emerged of a woman allegedly kidnapping a two-month-old boy from Tukaramgate, the accused has been traced on Monday and police started questioning her, according to sources. Based on a complaint lodged by Varalakshmi, mother of Bhuvaneshwar, on Sunday night, police registered a kidnap case and took up the probe.

During investigation, a special team which was formed took the help of CCTV footage to solve the case, sources said, adding that the CCTV footage showed a woman was moving suspiciously with a sleeping child in her arms on Sunday night. Reports said that police rescued the child and nabbed the accused based on the video footage from a hospital near Tukaramgate crossroads. It has been learnt that the woman was arrested and charged under relevant sections of the IPC, sources said. However, police refused to disclose further details.
