Justice Vilas Afzalpurkar of the High Court at Hyderabad on Monday refused to grant any interim orders in a writ plea questioning the arrest of the Chairman and Director of DCHL. The writ pleas are filed by the spouses of Chairman Venkat Ram Reddy and its Director Ravi Reddy .
The writ petitions challenge the action of the CBI in effecting the arrest of the two functionaries of the company that runs the English daily the Deccan Chronicle.
The arrest is effected by the CBI on allegations of fraud on a complaint made by Canara Bank. The two arrested persons are lodged at the Chanchalguda jail.
Earlier in the day Senior counsel V Venkataramana sought special permission for the matter to be heard in the course of the day as the issue related to freedom of a person and that the arrest was contrary to the law laid down by the Supreme Court.
