Hyderabad: Once again the Rajiv Gandhi International airport in Hyderabad witnessed the gold smuggling which was caught by the Customs. Customs officials on Tuesday in two separate cases seized over 4 kg gold worth Rs 1.10 Crores from four women passengers as they allegedly tried to smuggle.


A customs official informed that the officials seized 3.32 kg gold bars worth Rs 92 lakh in the first case where three women passengers who arrived at the airport from Dubai while another woman passenger who arrived from Bangkok had 800 gram gold bars worth Rs 22 lakh which was seized. Gold bars were hidden in inner garments in both the cases.


While the official informed that all the four women were detained and investigation is in process. Earlier, in the year 2014, Rajiv Gandhi International airport gold smuggling touched an all time high of nearly half a ton when the police broke a racket of Kasargode smugglers with suitcase hand bars who came via Dubai, Muscat and Kuwait.
