Hyderabad: In a mysterious incident of kidnap three children were abducted on Friday afternoon and later, two of them were set free under Nallkunta police limits. According to Nallakunta police around 12.30 pm Mamatha, a LKG student and resident of Baiamma Gali in Tilak Nagar along with her sister, Ankitha, 7 and brother Naveen, 9, were playing near their house when they were abducted. Later Ankitha and Naveen were set free but the whereabouts of Mamatha are not yet known.

On learning about the incident, the girl's father, Narayan, a labourer, mother, Manjula and relatives searched the area and surrounding localities. They then lodged a complaint with the Nallakunta police. Family members assembled at the police station agitating over the abduction of the girl and urging the police to act immediately.

Police said two women had befriended the children by introducing themselves as relatives. They forcibly took the children in an auto-rickshaw to Tarnaka where Naveen and Ankitha were let go but took along Mamatha. Residents of Tarnaka who noticed these young children wandering on the road informed the police who restored them to their parents. “As Ankitha’s earrings were intact, robbery did not seem to be the motive. However, a special team has been formed to trace the abductors,” CI V Jayapal Reddy said. Based on a complaint, a case has been registered. The women have not yet been traced, the CI said.
