Rajendranagar (Ranga Reddy): One Anand, who was reportedly called to Kothur police station for questioning in a murder case, is battling for life in a private hospital near Shamshabad with burns caused by electric shock on Friday. Kishan of Tatigadda Thanda in Kothur mandal of Mahabubnagar district was murdered nine months back. His wife Gunny had lodged a police complaint alleging that Anand who belonged to the same Thanda was responsible.

  • He was found unconscious near a transformer close to PS, say police
  • Family members allege police administered electric shock

The police had taken Anand into custody a week back. The police informed his family members on Friday that he was lying unconscious after suffering an electric shock at a transformer close to the police station. Anand told his family members in the hospital that he did not commit the murder. He alleged that the police were harassing him. Anand said he had touched the transformer as he was unable to bear the harassment.

His wife Bheemli and daughter Radha, an MPTC member, alleged that the police had administered shock to Anand. Bheemli accused the police of torturing her husband for the past one week. Radha stated that SI Surya Naik had abused her when she visited the station. She denied her father’s hand in the murder.

Anand’s family expressed doubts over Kothur CI Gangadhar’s role in the investigation, quoting him as saying two days back that the suspect had no role in the murder and that no case has been registered. The family members wondered why the police were keeping Anand in custody when the CI had given him a clean chit. They doubted how Anand could touch the transformer when he was in police custody. When the media asked Gangadhar to clarify, he remarked as to why it was making an issue.
