18 lakh worth gold seized at RGIA

Hyderabad: Customs officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport seized gold weighing 700 grams and worth Rs 18 lakh from a woman passenger from Dubai here on Wednesday. She had travelled to Hyderabad on UAE flight from Dubai that landed here late on Wednesday night. She was intercepted by the Custom officials based on intelligence inputs. They said the woman passenger, who had arrived at the airport last night from Dubai, had concealed six gold bars in her ‘burqa’ in order to smuggle them. “During interrogation, she admitted to the offence and the gold bars were seized. She was later let off,” the officer added.
