In perhaps a land mark judgement, a hacker has been sentenced to two years imprisonment under the section 66 of the IT Act for hacking the servers of the M/s SIS InfoTech Private Limited, Hyderabad based company.


In yet another feather in cap of Cyber crimes unit of Hyderabad, a 25 year old techie Prabhakar Sampath, of Chennai has been sentenced by P. Bhaskara Rao, VI Addl Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Hyderabad to undergo 2 years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000.


M/s SIS InfoTech Private Limited in Hyderabad is a market research company who sold market research reports (e- Reports) from their Adobe content server. Techie Prakhakar Sampath, a B.Tech grad had hacked the server online unauthorized and downloaded the protected reports worth of several thousand dollars for financial gain.


The accused was traced through technical investigation and pen drives, computer systems that were seized from his house, work place. B Ravi Kumar Reddy Inspector of Police filed charge sheet after the investigation which led to arrest and sentence of the culprit.
