Hyderabad: With the State police as well as Madhya Pradesh police confirming that the two gangsters who were shot dead in Nalgonda district on Saturday were Students Islamic Movement in India (SIMI) activists, Union Ministers M Venkaiah Naidu and Bandaru Dattatreya said the Centre would coordinate with the Telangana government in investigating the terrorist angle in the incident.Venkaiah told media that he had spoken to the Union Home Secretary on the issue.

He also confirmed that there was a terrorist angle to it and that the gangsters were SIMI agents.Dattatreya said he would take the issue to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in order to ensure that the Centre investigate the suspected Islamic State terrorist element in the incident. He lauded the Telangana police for showing exemplary courage while dealing with the armed gangsters in Nalgonda incident.

He said there were reports that some more SIMI activists had entered into the State and hence the Andhra Pradesh government had also put the police on high alert. The very fact that the two who were killed in Saturday’s encounter came to Suryapet via Hyderabad and were trying to escape towards AP and perhaps Chennai indicated that a bigger gang was operating somewhere in these areas and hence a thorough probe was required, the Union Minister said.

Speaking about child labour on the occasion, Dattatreya said that the Union government would amend labour laws, including Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986. He said the amendments would allow judiciary to make punishment stricter in case of violation of rules. He also mentioned that the changes brought in the bill would comply with International Labour Organisation.

He also said every child below14 years had the right to go to school, according to Right to Education Act. Now, the government was keen on implementing it and would make necessary changes in labour laws, he added. Dattatraya also expressed grief and condolence over the death of ace mountaineer Mastan Baba of Nellore district.
