One detained under PD Act
Detention orders have been issued against a chain snatcher here on Thursday under Preventive Detention (PD) Act, said the City Commissioner of Police, M Mahender Reddy The detention orders have been served on Sohail Ali alias Agah, a resident of Yakutpura who was allegedly involved in 14 criminal cases since 2003 in different police stations.

He was detained and sent to Chanchalguda Central Prison.
Police invoked the provisions under the AP Prevention of Dangerous Activities for boot-legging, dacoity, drug-offence, Goonda Act, Immoral Traffic Offenders and Land-Grabbers Act 1986 against Sohail Ali. “His acts have been adversely affected peace in the society and unless he is kept out of the society for a considerable period by detaining him, peace cannot be maintained and confidence of people cannot be restored and hence the detention was must”, the CP added.
