Timely intervention of the district police averted a marriage of a 16-year-old girl, who was to be married on Wednesday. Acting on the orders of the superintendent of police Ambar Kishor Jha, the police rushed to Azad Nagar, under Eturnagaram mandal and stopped the marriage scheduled to be held Mallur Lakshminarsimaha Swamy Temple in Mangapet mandal.

Sub-inspector Vinay, who counseled the parents of both the girl and boy, said that the marriage would not be allowed as per the law and anybody who violates it would be liable for punishment. The police let off the parents of the girl after they got an undertaking that the marriage would be solemnised after the girl attains 18 years.
