Jilted lover sets girl on fire, attempts suicide

A 18-year-old girl was set ablaze by a ‘lover’ on Friday morning in Viman Nagar in Saidabad for refusing his offer of marriage and later attempted suicide by setting himself on fire. Both have been admitted to hospital with severe burn injuries and reported to be critical.

According to Saidabad police, the youth a MBA student of Aurora College and the girl are classmates. The boy had insisted the girl to marry him, but the latter refused. Snubbed by her refusal, the youth allegedly set her on fire. Even as the two were engaged in a conversation, the boy doused her with petrol and set her ablaze and later also set self on fire.
