Goa: Two Delhi-based women were allegedly gang-raped and assaulted by five men, who posed as officers of the anti-narcotics cell of police, at a flat in Anjuna beach village in North Goa, according to police.

The women, aged 22 and 30, were holidaying in Goa and had hired a taxi to go to Anjuna beach when the accused stopped them midway in Arpora village.

"The accused posed as policemen and waylaid a taxi in which the two women were travelling to Anjuna on Monday night," Superintendent of Police Umesh Gaonkar said.

They frisked the women's bags and then took them to the flat where they allegedly raped and beat them.

All the five accused were arrested today from the flat, in the presence of victims, after the taxi driver complained to the police.

They were attached to a controversial nightclub at Calangute village which was recently demolished by locals for allegedly being a prostitution den.

The accused were identified as Travor Joseph, Jeevan Pawar, Kamlesh Chowdhary, Ajay Kumar Khushwa and Nadim Sayyed.
