2 arrested for cheating gullible by promising treasure trove
The city police on Tuesday arrested a person on charges of cheating public by promising to unearth a treasure trove buried in their houses. Police recovered two motorcycles, Rs 3.28 lakh, fake gold biscuits and fake American diamonds from his possession.

The accused identified as Anwarullah Khan alias Anwar Khan allegedly cheated several persons and enticed them to part with huge money, according to police. Anwar approached Shaik Khalid, a resident of Chudi Bazaar under Shahinayatgunj police station limits and impressed upon that a treasure trove remained buried in his house.
“Anwar explained that Khalid should perform some rituals to unearth treasure trove and collected Rs.60, 000 from him,” DCP (West) A Venkateswara Rao said. Anwar had been using this trick for the past four years to cheat businessmen and cases were also registered against him.
After taking the money, Anwar dug up a pit in Khalid’s house and gave him some gold biscuits and diamonds and asked him to keep it covered in a cloth. However, when Khalid tried to contact Anwar after one month, he started avoiding him. Khalid got suspicious of him.
When he got the gold verified, they turned out to be a fake, the DCP said. Based on complaint made by Khalid, the police registered a case and started investigation. During investigation, it was revealed that he had cheated many businessmen using the same trick.
