Pratyusha’s father arrested
After being elusive for a week, Chippa Ramesh, father of Pratyusha, was arrested from a house at Bowenpally by the LB Nagar police, on Thursday. The police wanted Ramesh on charge of attempting to kill his 19-year-old daughter. He was also charged with Section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the IPC.
Hyderabad: After being elusive for a week, Chippa Ramesh, father of Pratyusha, was arrested from a house at Bowenpally by the LB Nagar police, on Thursday. The police wanted Ramesh on charge of attempting to kill his 19-year-old daughter. He was also charged with Section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the IPC.
His wife Chamundeshwari alias Shyamala who partnered in the crime was already arrested by the police and remanded to 14 days’ judicial custody. Acting on at tip-off, the LB Nagar police in a joint operation with the Child Rights Commission rescued the girl from a house at Nagole on July 8.
The girl was being confined and tortured by her parents. Pratyusha said in her statement that her parents had forced her to drink toilet cleaners. She also alleged that her father and step mother physically tortured her up and burned her with hot objects. However, Ramesh denied all the allegations and told the police that he had never tortured the girl.
