Cash worth Rs 10 lakhs looted in Rajasthan

Kota (Raj): Three unidentified assailants allegedly looted cash worth Rs 10 lakhs, gold and silver jewelleries from a house in RK Nagar area here, police said today.

Three youths, aged between 18 to 28, broke into the house of one Mazhar Khan (24) with iron rods and sticks last night, said sub-inspector of Nayapura police station Ramsavak Soni, adding that the men manhandled Khan and tied him to a rope in his bedroom.

The burglars then broke a safe lock and robbed Rs 10 lakh, one gold and silver ring, Soni said.

According to victim, the robbers were around 19, 22, and 28 years old. They were unmasked and wore t-shirts and shorts, sub-inspector said.

He was sleeping alone in his room when the incident happened while his brother was in another room with his family, he said adding that Khan's brother untied the ropes after the robbers escaped.

According to the victim, he had brought Rs 8.50 lakh from the sale of his plot, collected 1.37 lakhs for the mosque fund and another Rs 25000 was lying in his pocket.

It is suspected that the robbers could be familiar persons who knew about Khan's transactions, SI said.

A case has been registered under sections 394 and 458 of IPC and investigation is underway. However, none have been arrested yet, he said.
