Hyderabad: A 31-year-old auto-driver was arrested by the Uppal police on Tuesday on charges of property thefts and recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 1.5 lakh from his possession.

Joseph James, 31, resident of Malkajgiri and native of Kerala state, was intercepted by the crime staff of Uppal police station during their routine checks for offenders at a bus stop on Tuesday morning.

James, who gave irrelevant answers, was taken into custody. During questioning, Jamesh confessed to have committed property offences like burglaries and ordinary thefts of ornaments.

Further, he also told police that he was a HIV positive patient and his wife left him about a year ago. The preliminary investigation revealed that the accused James with an intention of spreading the disease trapped several innocent women, mostly labourers and mated with them without disclosing about his disease.
