Man attacks wife at court in Palacole
An accused in dowry harassment case attacked his wife with an axe in front of a court in Palacole of West Godavari district on Wednesday.

According to police, Vasakuri Vasundhara (38) of Vadlavanipalem village in Palacole mandal married Kota Naga Satyanarayana (42) of Mattaparru village of Poduru mandal in 2005 and the couple have twin girls. However, Satyanarayana had allegedly started subjecting her to mental and physical torture for giving birth to girls.
In 2008, Vasundhara returned to her parents’ house due to harassment by husband and complained to Narsapuram police against the husband and mother-in-law alleging that they had been harassing her for additional dowry. While the case is pending, she filed another case for maintenance in Palacole court. Both the parties have been attending the court hearings as and when the case due.
On Wednesday morning, Vasundhara came to Palacole court for hearing of the case. When she reached to the court, Satyanarayana attacked her with an axe and hit her on the head. Vasundhara collapsed in pool blood and passersby rushed her to government hospital in Palacole.
Satyanarayana fled the scene after the attack. Police arrested him after two hours. As the condition of Vasundhara is said to be serious, she was shifted to Kakinada Government Hospital. Palacole town police registered a case and are investigating.
