Prof held for impersonating TV artiste
The City Cyber Crime police on Friday arrested a 27-year-old engineering professor from Kazipet for impersonating a TV artiste and for collecting money by cheating the public. A female artiste from Hyderabad lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime police on March 27, stating that a fake Facebook profile on her name was created by an unknown person.
Hyderabad: The City Cyber Crime police on Friday arrested a 27-year-old engineering professor from Kazipet for impersonating a TV artiste and for collecting money by cheating the public.
A female artiste from Hyderabad lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime police on March 27, stating that a fake Facebook profile on her name was created by an unknown person. She stated the accused had collected money from her friends by impersonating her.
The Cyber Crime team identified the accused as Siripuri Kiran, 27, faculty at SR Engineering College of Kazipet in Warangal district. Kiran started electronics business and incurred loss to the tune of 6.8 lakh.
In order to clear the debts, he hatched a plan of collecting money on the pretext of charity from public. Theaccused received Rs 26,000 in three instalments from friends of the artiste.
