Adilabad: Three girl students and two women travelling in an auto rickshaw were killed on Sunday morning when the vehicle collided with an RTC bus near Lodpalli in Bejur mandal of Adilabad district.

The victims boarded the vehicle at Salgupalli to take part in the Bonalu festival in Dahegam mandal. The auto driver driving at high speed crashed into the bus between Salgupalli and Lodpalli villages. Following the collision, the vehicle was dragged to 30 metres and fell in a nearby ditch.

The victims were identified as Seedam Suguna, 38, her daughter Lavanya (16) of Jaihindpur in Bejur mandal, Choudary Rajyalakshmi (16) and her sister Parvati (13) of Konchipalli in Dahegam mandal and their relative Doke Pushpa (36). Due to the impact of the collision, Rajyalakshmi was thrown out to distance of about a furlong, while the others were killed in the auto itself.

Lavanya and Rajyalakshmi, both were studying SSC and Parvati (7th class) in Babapur Ashram Residential School in Babapur mandal. Relatives of the victims who planned to take part in the festival were in deep shock following the tragic deaths. Sirpur MLA Koneru Konappa after visiting the accident spot assured the kin of the victims to strive for securing the State government’s assistance to their families.
