Hyderabad: A nine-year-old boy, who was trapped in a fire mishap in a parked car at Meerpet in the city, succumbed to burn injuries at a hospital on Friday. The incident occurred at Gayatri Nagar under Meerpet police limits. Suresh Reddy, a private employee, parked his car in front of his house on Thursday night.

On Friday morning, his two sons, Srujan (16) and Sreyas (9) entered the car and played songs using a pen drive. All of a sudden, blazes erupted in the car and within no time, the car was engulfed in fire trapping Srujan and Sreyas. Sreyas, who suffered over 80 per cent burn injuries, died while undergoing treatment. Srujan’s health is stated to be stable.

Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that Suresh Reddy when parked the car forgot to switch off head lights. On Friday, when the kids entered the car and switched on the engine, a suspected short circuit might have occurred resulting in the blaze.
