Three youth were killed and two injured when two motorbikes they were riding collided in Telangana's Mahabubnagar district in the early hours of Friday.

The accident occurred in Vanguru mandal in Mahabubnagar district when the revelers were returning home after New Year celebrations.

A motorbike on which three people were riding collided head-on with another motorbike coming from the opposite direction with two riders.

Tragedy also marred New Year celebrations in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh when two people on a motorbike were killed and one was injured when a car hit their vehicle. The accident occurred after midnight near Undi.

The New Year celebrations passed off peacefully in Hyderabad. With police imposing traffic restrictions on several key routes, no untoward incident was reported in Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerate limits.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand said the celebrations were peaceful. He said 7,000 personnel were deployed at various places for vehicle checking.

All roads around Hussain Sagar lake in Hyderabad, Outer Ring Road, PVNR Expressway and all flyovers in the two commissionerates were closed for traffic from Thursday night to early hours of Friday.
