Vadisaleru/Mandapeta/ Amalapuram: In total, six youth died in East Godavari on the eve of New Year celebrations during the late hours on Thursday. In Vadisaleru village of Rangampeta mandal, two youth died of electrocution while trying to erect a huge flexi of Tollywood hero Pawan Kalyan.

According to the sources, the incident occurred when the local fans of Pawan Kalyan were erecting the huge flexi in the ADB road connecting Kakinada and Rajahmundry. Gundavarapu Veera Venkata Satya Vara Prasad (20) and Jandhayala Satish (19) got into contact with the high tension wires that were passing through the area and got electrocuted.

The locals tried to shift them for medical aid but they died on the way.The bodies were handed over to kin of the deceased after post-mortem. Rangampeta station house officer N S Naidu registered a case and took up investigation.

In another incident, three youth got electrocuted while trying to erect a huge flexi of Tollywood hero Mahesh Babu at Maredubaka village in Mandapeta mandal. The local fans, while trying to erect a huge flexi of their favourite hero, failed to notice the power lines passing en route and came in to contact with the live wire. All three died on the spot.

The deceased were identified as D Naresh (20), M Prasad (18) and G Durga Madhavi Prasad(16). The bodies were handed over to their kin after post-mortem. A case is registered and investigation is on. A 25-year-old youth died in group clashes at Karmika Nagar in Amalapuram town suburbs.

According to the sources, a group of youth assembled at a place in the area on Thursday night during the New Year celebrations. During the course of their discussions, there were differences in opinions. With frayed tempers the two groups clashed with one another with weapons when one died and four more sustained injuries. It is believed that all were under the influence of alcohol.

The deceased was identified as Koppula Prasanna Kumar alias Chinababu. Amalapuram CI Y R K Srinivas registered the case and took up investigation.
