Bandaru Dattatraya Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labour & Employment, Govt of India today strongly condemned the assault on senior journalist Sri Pasham Yadagiri, Dr. Ramakrishna Rao and others by Sri Vishwajit A.S.P, Eturunagaram in Warangal District yesterday. The assault was shocking that Smt Sarojini, wife of Sri Pasham Yadagiri was being taken by Ambulance for emergency medical treatment. The group was on a pilgrimage to Medaram to attend the Samakka-Sarakka jatra, which has been declared a state festival.

The Minister reiterated that if this was the treatment meted out to respected members of the society who were in an emergency situation, the impunity and high handedness of the police towards ordinary people can only be imagined.

The matter becomes worse if one is to consider that the official involved was from the Indian Police Service and expected to be a role model of police behaviour and relationship towards the general public.

Sri Dattatraya in a telephonic conversation with Sri Malla Reddy, DIG Warangal demanded an inquiry into the incident by the appropriate authorities and a suitable reprimand/punishment to the officer.

He stated that the new state of Telangana should live up to its promise of being people friendly and asked for a reorientation and training to the police force so that their behavior is aligned with the vision of the state.
