Nizamabad: The Nizamabad cops have arrested a member of inter-state robbers gang in Haryana and seized a Bolero jeep from him. However, the cops have not recovered the stolen money. The accused has been identified as Zahid from Mewat district in Haryana. Nizamabad SP Chandrasekhar Reddy, who produced the accused before the media here on Thursday, said that two teams from Mewat district were involved in robberies.

The SP said Arif team robbed ATM’s at Nasik in Maharashtra while Zahid team looted ATM’s in Medak district. The Arif team comprising Arif, Younis, Asif, and Wahid looted nearly Rs 43,23,200 from two ATMs at Rudruru of Vani mandal and Kotagiri mandal headquarters on December 14 and 15. They also robbed Rs 32,000 from an ATM at Nasik in Maharashtra.

The SP said that Zahid team members - Zahid, Mubariq, Irshad, Nissar and Naresh - looted nearly Rs 3,24,000 from an ATM in Sangareddy. They also tried to rob three ATMs - one in Three Town police station limits of Nizamabad city and another two in Medak town and Kowdipally in Medak district.

Chandrashekar Reddy said people from many villages in Haryana were involved in robberies and they attack cops who try to arrest them. The Nizamabad police team led by Bodhan DSP R Venkateshwarlu investigated the case. The team visited Maharashtra, Haryana, UP, MP and Delhi states and found that robbery gangs from Mewat district were involved in looting ATMs.

Medak police arrested Arif, the kingpin on February 24, while another member Asif was arrested by Maharashtra cops, he said. He said the investigation was on and that they would soon nab the other members.
