Hyderabad: A bank manager from Hyderabad was cheated to the tune of Rs 53 lakh by cyber fraudsters on pretext of assisting him in getting a job in Royal Bank of Scotland in USA. The police have arrested two persons who have been running a fake call centre in Delhi and remanded them.

According to the police, Jitender (38), a bank manager living in Moti Nagar in Erragadda, had uploaded his resume in various websites aspiring for a better job. Recently, he got a call from a person who claimed to be a recruiter working in Jobs2globe consultancy in Delhi.

The caller asked Jitender to send his resume to them and subsequently informed him that his profile has been selected for the post of manager in a branch of Royal Bank of Scotland in USA with a salary package of Rs 10 lakh per month. After few days, they asked Jitender to deposit Rs 5,000 as consultancy fees and told him that they would inform him about the processing fees and other payment details.

The frequency of calls from the consultancy increased and they started luring Jitender with the facilities that would be provided to him in USA. On confirming that Jitender had fallen prey to them, the callers extracted Rs 53 lakh from him and then stopped using the numbers they previously used to call him.

On receiving complaint, City Cyber Crime police reached Delhi and apprehended two persons Manjo and Sunil Singh with the help of Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force police. During interrogation, it has been found that Manoj and Sunil were earlier arrested by the Delhi police in similar cases where they have cheated about five persons in pretext of assisting in getting jobs aboard. The accused were brought to Hyderabad on transit warrant and remanded, the cyber crime police said.
