According to police, the accused used to store the stolen items in his house and he would dispose them in smaller quantities to evade suspicion, said

The ACP said, in the wake of rise in property offenses in the area, surveillance has been increased and special parties have been deployed. On Saturday evening, Owis was seen moving suspiciously near jewelry shops in Madannapet and he was intercepted by the police party.
After checking, the police found a gold chain with Owis and he was immediately taken to police station for questioning. During the interrogation, the police found out that he was involved in five offenses in the past. The police searched his residence and recovered the stolen items.
“Gold ornaments weighing 19.5 tolas have been recovered from his house. He had sold most of the stolen property and spent the money to lead a lavish nightlife. He (Owis) used to go to pubs, clubs and restaurants and spend the lot of money,” the ACP said. The accused will be produced in the court on Monday for judicial remand, the ACP added.
