Student’s suicide bid in front of Police Station
A 21-year old degree student from Hyderabad attempted to set himself ablaze in front of Vanasthalipuram police station, alleging that he was beaten by a sub-inspector for lodging a complaint.
Hyderabad: A 21-year old degree student from Hyderabad attempted to set himself ablaze in front of Vanasthalipuram police station, alleging that he was beaten by a sub-inspector for lodging a complaint.
On Wednesday around 11 am, G Gopi Krishna, son of Ram Babu from Vanasthalipuram, a first- year degree student, tried to immolate himself. The victim was rescued by the police personnel and given first aid.
On questioning, the victim alleged that on Wednesday, he had gone to lodge a complaint against his friend who was commenting offensively on his Facebook profile and was defaming his character.
Instead of registering a case, the in-charge Inspector Saidulu beat him up, alleged Gopi. Humiliated by the incident, Gopi attempted to set himself ablaze.
Denying the allegations of Gopi, the police said that the students were pacified and warned not to repeat such things again and Gopi was not beaten up as he was claiming.
However, after Gopi’s suicide attempt, they have registered a case and are probing his complaint.
