Shamshuddin was alone at home as his daughter-in-law and wife were away at Budwel to attend funeral of a relative. The murder came to light when Sharifun called up Shamshuddin’s neighbours and asked them to take care of her husband’s needs till her return to the city. 

Kadapa: A 55-year-old man found dead in his house at Vakkalapeta in the city on Thursday. He was identified as tailor Shamshuddin. He lived along with wife Sharifun, son and daughter-in-law.

Shamshuddin was alone at home as his daughter-in-law and wife were away at Budwel to attend funeral of a relative. The murder came to light when Sharifun called up Shamshuddin’s neighbours and asked them to take care of her husband’s needs till her return to the city.

When a neighbouring woman went inside Shamshuddin’s house, she found him dead with a towel around his neck. Left side of his neck bore marks of strangulation. She conveyed the news to Sharifun, who rushed to Kadapa. Sharifun lodged a complaint with the police that someone had murdered her husband.

Sniffer dogs were pressed into service. Superintendent of Police PHD Ramakrishna, DSP Ashok Kumar, in-charge CI Syama Rao and others visited the crime scene. The II-town police have registered a case.
