Visakhapatnam: Two unidentified persons posing as ornament polishers, disappeared with 100 grams of gold at Gajuwaka on Friday. A two-member gang approached an elderly couple at Gajuwaka area and introduced themselves as metal polishers.

The elderly couple gave them a few brass vessels for polishing and after polishing them, the duo asked the old woman to give her mangalsutra for polishing. In the meantime, her daughter-in-law arrived at home and the duo asked for both the mangalsutras and asked the daughter-in-law to boil some water. Soon after the woman went inside the house to boil water, the duo fled the spot with gold ornaments weighing around 100 gms on the bike. The police registered a case and launched a man-hunt for the two persons.

Following complaints from residents of various localities in the city that they lost their gold jewellery to persons, who came to their dwellings under the guise of polishing their ornaments and vanished, the DCP (Crimes) T Ravi Kumar Murthy appealed to the public to be aware of such gangs.
