Four held for duping 2 BHK aspirants

​Hyderabad: A gang of four persons, including two women, were arrested on charges of cheating 110 persons of their hard-earned money on the pretext of securing double-bedroom houses at Bhoiguda under the State government scheme.

The fraud came to light after five cases were registered under the limits of Hyderabad and West Cyberabad Police Commissionerates. Noticing that over 100 persons had fallen prey to the fraud, two Task Force police teams were formed and manhunt launched.

On a tip-off, the sleuths apprehended prime accused B Mahbuni alias Munni (29) of Cubmum in Andhra Pradesh along with her friends M Satish Kumar (35) of Jeedimetla, M Amaravathi (32) of Secunderabad and Mohammed Tajuddin (32) of Hyderabad, and seized land documents valued at Rs 3.845 lakh and Rs 10.4 lakh cash along with four auto-rickshaws and some mobile phones, the police said.

Interrogation of the accused, the police said, had revealed that Munni, the kingpin, had hatched a plan to cheat the gullible of their hard-earned money. She shared the plan with her friends and encouraged them to trap gullible.

“Posing as an officer in Endowments Department in Telangana State, she had persuaded the gullible persons to deposit between Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000 in bank account by convincing them that she was given the authority to allot the two-bedroom houses,” said Task Force DCP B Limba Reddy, during a press conference at his office on Saturday.

The DCP said the accused had equally shared the booty. Whenever the victims asked them about the allotment order copies, Munni and Satish convinced them to wait by saying that the files were pending with the GHMC Commissioner. “As many as 110 persons were cheated,” the cop said.
