Hyderabad: Two burglaries were reported at Balaji Meadows, a gated community in Nizampet area of KPHB Colony on Saturday night.A week ago, burglars decamped with gold and cash from three houses in the same residential colony, but the police are still clueless about the culprits. The police claim to have stepped up vigil, but it could not deter the burglars.

On Sunday, Rahul Kumar, a techie living in Balaji Meadows, complained to the police about the theft. Rahul, who had been to Suryapet for the weekend, was shocked to see the broken locks of his villa and when he entered, the almirah in his bedroom was empty. About 12 tolas of gold and silver ornaments weighing about 2 kg were missing, he told the police.

Another house break was reported in the villa of a businessman Rajeshwar Rao, but he claimed to have lost nothing.The total number of burglaries in the residential colony so far has gone up to five. Burglars made away with property worth about Rs 10 lakh.

A gang of six persons with masked faces entered the Balaji Meadows gated community and looted three villas. The KPHB police said there were 30 villas in the community, while almost half of them were yet to be occupied. Despite several alerts, CC cameras were not installed in the area and the residents did not engage a full time watchman.

When the break-ins occurred, the temporary watchman hired by the residents was sleeping. The residents were asked to hire proper security guards and install cameras at least now.A police official said they were suspecting the role of interstate gang of burglars. Cases had been booked and investigation was on, the police said.
