Hyderabad: Craving to have a male child motivated a couple to resort kidnapping in Rajendranagar. Police cracked the case and rescued the four-year-old boy, while arresting four persons, including a woman who had sold the boy for Rs 15,000 to the couple.

According to Rajendranagar police, the accused were identified as Faheema, 20, resident of Suleman Nagar, Chinthalmet, Azim Khan, 22, resident of Nazam Nagar, Kishanbagh, Parveen Begum, 25, resident of Ghode-ki-Khabar and Syed Waheed, 28, Gode Ki Khabar. While Farhana Begum, 25, wife of Waheed remained at large.

On October 3, police received a complaint from Jabin Begum that her four-year-old son Khaleel was kidnapped by an unknown woman, who lured the boy by offering snacks from a shop. Soon after the case was registered, special teams swung into action and collected the CCTV footage from Chintalmet area.

According to police, the accused Waheed, father of three girls, craved for a boy as his only son died at the age of five months. He contacted his brother-in-law Azim and sister Parveen Begum for fulfilment of his desire to have boy child.

In turn, they contacted their cousin Faheema Begum. At first, they asked for adoption of boy from the poor family, but could not succeed in convincing Jabin, the mother of the boy. However, Waheed and his family decided to kidnap the boy and revealed their intention to Faheema and struck a deal.

On the morning of October 3, Faheema planned the kidnapping of the boy in Chinthalmet area. However, the boy was not alone and was playing with his elder sister Reshma, 6. The accused lured them to follow her for getting some snacks from a nearby shop.

The children did so and got into the auto. They got down near Sikh Chawani, where Faheema asked the girl to get snacks for her brother. Even as the girl headed towards the shop, Faheema disappeared with the boy. Later she went to Azeem Khan’s residence at Kishanbagh and sold the boy to Waheed for an amount of Rs 15,000.
