Pune: A 23-year-old woman working with an IT firm in Pune was allegedly hacked to death by an unidentified person on the outskirts of the city, police said late on Saturday night.

Antara Das, a resident of Behala in West Bengal, was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon around 8pm on Friday when she was returning home from work, a senior official of Dehu Road Police Station said.

She was attacked barely 500 metres from her office near Dehu Road.

“Das was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, she was declared dead on arrival,” he said.

According to the officer, robbery angle had been ruled out, as the valuables the woman was carrying were not missing.

A case was registered in this regard, police said, adding a probe was underway.

Reports said her family members had reached Pune.
