Hyderabad: Rachakonda police on Monday registered three separate cases against the officials of Brilliant Engineering College at Abdullapurmet for allegedly harassing girls students on mobile phones.

Students of the college lodged three separate complaints against the incharge of examination branch Saidi Reddy, head of the department of computer sciences, Gopi and accountant Osman alleging that the trio had repeatedly been making calls to them, besides sending vulgar and obscene text messages for the past few months.

Based on the complaints, Abdullapurmet police registered three cases and took the three accused into custody. Earlier in the day, students staged a protest in front of the college demanding action against the officials for subjecting the students to discrimination, outraging the modesty and seeking sexual favours.

The protesting students alleged that some officials of the college were in the habit of giving higher percentage of marks to the students who yielded to their demands. They alleged that the officials had been threatening the students with giving poor marks if they dared to speak against them.
