​Hyderabad: The Special Operations Team (SOT) of Rachakonda police arrested two persons for attempting to sell an antique coin on the pretext of it having mystical powers.

The arrested persons have been identified as Sanjay Pathak of Secunderabad and K Ajay Kumar of Alwal. Police seized the antique coin and three mobile phones from the accused. According to the police, Ajay came to know that Sanjay was in possession of an antique coin which dates back to more than 100 years.

Immediately, he researched about antique coins on the internet and realised that it could be sold for huge amounts by luring the prospective buyers with mystical powers ideology. Ajay then explained his plan of selling the coin with mystical powers ideology to Sanjay.

Sanjay promised to pay Rs 2 lakh as commission to Ajay and both fixed the price at Rs 30 lakh, police said. According to their plan, the duo reached Krishna Hotel in Nacharam police station limits on Wednesday evening to meet a prospective customer.

However, SOT got a wind of deal and arrested the two persons and handed them over to Nacharam police. The Nacharam police produced the accused before the designated court and remanded them in prison.
