According to the police, the accused who were in their 20s robbed a private employee by abducting him after posing as policemen. Hyderabad: The Gopalpuram police on Monday arrested a gang of five dacoits who posed as policemen and robbed gullible people of their valuables.

According to the police, the accused who were in their 20s robbed a private employee by abducting him after posing as policemen. The victim P Ramesh was walking towards a bus stop near Garden Hotel in Secunderabad, after getting off the bus in JBS.

They waylaid and restrained him near the hotel and forced him to get on their bike, while posing as policemen. They took him to an isolated place and snatched away his gold chain and cell phone and decamped with the booty.

In another case, on the intervening night of December 25 and 26, they robbed a man of his wallet containing Rs 18,500 cash and ATM cards at Chilkalguda X Road. During the melee, they also assaulted him and later withdrew Rs 14,500 cash from his ATM.

The accused were identified as Benedict Sanjeev, resident of Bhoiguda, K Kalyan Kumar, resident of New Bhoiguda, Vanguri Sunil, resident of Bholakpur in Musheerabad, Lanka Akhil Mudiraj, resident of New Bhoiguda and Alexander Mario, resident of Kavadiguda.
