Two chain snatchers held; 9 tulas of gold recovered
The S R Nagar police on Wednesday, arrested 2-chain snatchers who had involved several chain-snatching incidents. Police recovered 9-tulas of gold and other ornaments, along with bike whose number was covered with black tape. The accused have been identified as Syed Abrar (29), flower vendor and resident of Erragadda and B Dasarth Ram (31), tea powder vendor, Borabanda.
The S R Nagar police on Wednesday, arrested 2-chain snatchers who had involved several chain-snatching incidents. Police recovered 9-tulas of gold and other ornaments, along with bike whose number was covered with black tape. The accused have been identified as Syed Abrar (29), flower vendor and resident of Erragadda and B Dasarth Ram (31), tea powder vendor, Borabanda. Both are the childhood friends and have been facing with financial problems and decided to commit chain snatchings. They covered their bike number with `black colour tapes’ for avoiding identification.
Earlier, Abrar involved in a snatching case at S R Nagar in 2008 and was later released on bail. He again planned to commit snatchings with the help of Dasarath who used to drive bike. As pillion rider, Abrar used to snatch away chains from the gullible women on the streets.
In one such incident, Kilaru Jyothi, 65-yrs and resident of Madhura Nagar was targeted by the duo near D-Block Park on August 6, while she was walking. The accused rode Bajaj Platina bike from opposite direction and snatched away her 9-tulas of gold Mangal Sutram.
The passersby chased them; but could not catch them. Following the incident, crime team of S R Nagar police station analysed the CCtv footage from Madhura Nagar and Vengal Rao Nagar areas. After some locals identified the prime accused, the police raided his house in Sultan Nagar of Erragadda. After recovering gold ornaments, they raided the house of Dasarth and seized bike from his possession.
