Charminar: Acting upon the complaint from a resident of Chanchalguda about online fraud, cyber-crime police of CCS detective department apprehended two offenders, Amit Kumar Bhuhiya and Rajat Paswan from Pachim Burdhaman district of West Bengal.

They were produced before the Media on Wednesday. According to the police, the criminals were assisting an inter-State gang of fraudsters duping innocent people on the pretext of bank officers and checking account details.

Police informed that their modus operandi was to call customers and tell them that their ATM cards were blocked thereby trying to fetch debit card numbers and drawing money from victims’ account online.

Several others also complained about similar kind of duping by the con men in the city. A team of sleuths traced this online fraud to West Bengal and nabbed the two accused.

The police informed that the offenders used to transfer the money on to e-commerce wallets fraudulently and from there they sent the amount to different bank accounts. Cyber Crime police has booked cases under various relevant sections and sent the apprehended persons into custody.
