bittiPuttaparthi: A team of Kerala police arrived here on Tuesday morning to probe into the antecedents of Raghava Rajan who, police claim, is none other than the Bitti Mohanty the son of former Odisha DGP B B Mohanty who had been on the run since he jumped parole in Rajasthan in November 2006 in a seven year jail case for molesting a German woman tourist there. Raghava Rajan worked as a teacher in a Puttaparthy school and also at a degree college there for sometime before he went to Kerala to do MBA at Chinmaya Institute there. Later, he joined State Bank of Travancore as a probationary officer. He was arrested on March 8 in Kannur on charges of impersonation. He retracted his confession of being Bitti Mohanty and insists he is Raghava Rajan, indeed. A team of Rajasthan police are also questioning him. The Kerala police, meanwhile, deputed a team to Puttaparthy to inquire into the claims of Rajan that he belongs to Puttaparthy. His Voter ID card reveals him to be Raghav Rajan, the son of Rajiv Rajan. The residential address given is H.No. 6/80, Yanamulapalle, Block-6, Chitravathi Road, Puttaparthi. The ID card bears the number AGW 0298331.

A team of Kerala police led by CI Abdul Khadir reached Anantapur in the morning and the district police brought them straight here. The team first went to local Tahsildar office and examined the Voter ID details and tried to find out how Raghav he obtained it. They also went to Canara Bank branch where he holds a savings account which is still operational. Later, the team visited government homeopathy college and spoke to Dr Kishtappa. It may be recalled that Dr Kishtappa, a gazetted officer, has attested the nativity as well as experience certificates of Raghav. The team tried to meet retired IAS officer Paramahansa. When they went to his room B-14 at South-3 Block, he was said to have gone to Hyderabad. It was this retired official who introduced Raghav to Headmaster Ramarao. Lastly, the Kerala team grilled Ramarao at Sai Enclave about Raghav. Ramarao not only gave employment to Raghav as a teacher in Jeevanoddarana School but also provided accommodation to him at his house. As Raghav could not carry on his teaching assignment due to ill-health, Ramarao got him a job at the computer section of Sri Vidya Degree College. When Raghav evinced interest in doing M Tech, Ramarao prevailed upon him to go to Kannur in Kerala to do MBA. Raghav's flat is located in the same Enclave. The Kerala police met his neighbour Sambhuti, a retired railway official, and his family. They immediately recognised Bitti Mohanty's father B B Mohanty from a photograph. They informed that B B Mohanty was introduced by Raghav as his uncle. He also introduced a short man as his father and an elder woman as his aunty. The police found that Raghav is still paying rent for his flat. It was last paid on February 20. The police also examined the records of the flat owners association. It is learnt that the Kerala cops would stay in Puttaparthi for a couple of days to carry out their investigation.
