thotaRampachodavaram: The three-day 'Manyam Jatara Chudimi' (Tribal festival) concluded here on Sunday night. Traditions and cultures of the tribals were depicted in this festival. Minister for Stamps and Registrations Thota Narasimham was the chief guest. On this occasion, Mr Narasimham said that the State government was making efforts to preserve the traditions and cultures of the tribals by organising festivals like 'Manyam Jatara' and 'Sagara Sambaralu' to preserve the traditions of the people living in coastal areas. No government in the past made efforts to preserve the traditions, he said and lauded the efforts of the government officials for organising the tribal festival on a grand scale. He said the State government brought the legislation on SC,/ST Sub-Plan to ensure that the funds earmarked for SCs and STs would not be diverted. Rajya Sabha member T Ratna Bai said that the State and the Central governments were implementing the direct cash transfer scheme for the comprehensive development of tribals. She thanked everyone for making the tribal festival a grand success. ITDA project officer C Naga Rani said it was a great honour for Rampachodavaram to host 'Manyam Jatara' for the first time in the State. Rampachodavaram Sub-Collector Gandham Chandrudu said 'Manyam Jatara' has been organised in the Agency area to promote tourism in the tribal areas and thanked the officials for making the festival a grand success at short notice. Rampachodavaram MLA KK Viswanath, Tuni MLA Raja Ashok Babu, Additional Joint Collector B Rama Rao and Amalapuram RDO Sampath Kumar were present.
