Eluru: Agitation against State division spread every nook and corner of central coastal districts-- West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam. On the 15th day of protest, women employees belonging to the State Electricity Board joined the fellow government staff holding placards ‘We love United Andhra’. Under the aegis of Electricity Board Employees Joint Action Committee, the protest rally began at Eluru’s electricity office and passed through Fire Station and RR Peta in the town. The protestors warned the Central government against dividing the State.

Expressing solidarity with the APNGOs’ fight for a united Andhra Pradesh, APSRTC employees, all educational institutions, and other government offices, commercial establishments observed bandh. The strike call given by the NGOs entered the 2nd day. RTC buses were confined to bus depots. Employees’ unions cutting across private and government sectors demanded that the decision to divide the State be rolled back. They said AK Antony Committee would not serve any purpose in solving the contentious issue.


KCR’s funeral procession
Bapatla (Guntur): Students belonging to Bapatla Engineering College took out a mock funeral procession taking the effigy of KCR on the college premises.


Rally held
Nuzivid (Krishna): Agitation got intensified across the district as there were protest rallies, closure of shops and offices. In a protest rally held under the auspices of United Andhra JAC, the agitators blindfolded themselves. Irrespective of party affiliation, students, business people, doctors, lawyers, municipal and revenue employees joined the agitation. RTC employees and private bus operators, labourers raised slogans in protest against the Centre’s decision to carve out Telangana State. Demonstrations were held in different forms such as stalling the traffic, formation of human chains and ‘Vanta Varpu’.


Students hold rally
Guntur: Students took out a massive demonstration here. Teachers, on their part, undertook relay protests holding KCR responsible for the present fiasco. They pledged to continue their agitation until the Centre reverses its decision on Telangana.


Hunger strike
Parchur (Prakasam): Gottipati Bharath, son of Gottipati Narasimha Rao has been on a fast-unto-death. In a show of solidarity, a group of 30 women in the town went on a relay hunger strike. Also, a huge rally was taken out by the activists belonging to YSRCP on the stretch of Bommala centre in the town.

Public outcry over Telangana state
Nuzivid (Krishna): Villagers in Surepally village of Musnoor mandal came on to the streets in unison shouting slogans in support of a united Andhra Pradesh. Children and elders alike came together and took out KCR’s effigy in a funeral procession in the village.


Traffic jam
Chirala (Prakasam): Students and RTC employees came together on a single platform denouncing the Centre for dividing the State. Protestors barged into the local municipality office sending away the staff besides raising slogans in support of ‘United Andhra Pradesh’. A bike rally was carried out in the town by the JAC of NGOs resulting in a traffic jam on the Chirala-Bapatla road.
