Experts said that the board has to take over the corporate education system under its control.
“During the Andhra Pradesh BIE, the corporate education has taken over the rest. It is need of the hour to control corporate education system in the State. In Tamil Nadu and Karnataka states, there are more government colleges than private but in our State it is the other way around. This has to be curbed by the board,” said P Madhusudhan Reddy, President, Government junior lectures association, Telangana.
Junior lectures also said that the present syllabus should be changed and it should be IIT and NIT centric. “Only a section of people are able to make it to the IIT and NITs every year. The board has to revamp the syllabus in way that it helps all the section students to crack the national level examinations. Besides, the board has to bring the Telangana culture and history in the books,” Reddy said.
Another problem that is haunting the board is the dearth of staff. Though the government hurriedly constituted Telangana State Council of Higher Education, till date the council is suffering from the dearth of funds and also staff. The new board would be one the same lines, experts stated.
Experts feel that the government has opened a can of worms rather than solving the existing problems with the Andhra Pradesh. So far there has been no clarity on the intermediate public examinations which are scheduled to be held in the March. While, the Telangana government is insisting on the separate examinations for the both the states, but the Andhra Pradesh has been pitching hard for common exam. The AP government said that if separate exams were held it would hamper 25 per cent weightage that would be given to EAMCET and also for national level competitive examinations. With both governments showing no interest to resolve issue, the students are now confused whether the examinations will be held in March.
