‘Communication is a skill that you can learn. It's like riding a bicycle or typing. If you're willing to work at it, you can rapidly improve the quality of every part of your life.’ This remark of Brian Tracy laid its emphasis on gaining grip over the communication. The human being is blessed to have this skill that can bridge the relationships; of course, at sometimes it breaks the same.

Though, this era belongs to technology “The skill of communication” has become an essential factor for the career and professional success. That is the reason for the mushrooming of coaching centers for communication skill development. It is a big comedy that after completion of UG and PG courses the individual is running after these centers. The timidity in communicating exposes the inability of classroom in which student’s destiny has been chiseled. So, there is a pressing need of paradigm shift in the classroom activity to change it as a “communication lab”.

At present there is a misconception that propagating information is communication. It is very disappointing thing that still we aren’t able to righteously demarcate the two significant words in academics ‘information and communication”. But it is noticeable according to Sydney J. Harris” the two words ‘information and ‘communication’ are often used interchangeably, but they signify quite different things. Information is giving out; communication is getting through”.

The word “Communication” etymology reveals that it has been originated from the Latin words” Communicare” or “Communiqué” that meant “To Share”. It is not mere sharing of words, sounds and meanings but sharing of the views of two minds with an essential essence of humanity. The word Communication according to Neumann and Summer “It is a process in which two or more involved to exchange truths, thoughts, opinions and emotions too”.

Further, the communication not remains as some letters on the paper, but it speaks and inculcates attitudes, concepts, emotions and instincts both consciously and subconsciously”. May be, that was the reason for the utterance of Catherine Pulsifer “Communication is one of the most important skills you require for a successful life."So, these abilities should be developed in an early age of any individual with the help of diversified programmes at school.

It is very ill-conceived that now-a-days “communicative skill” is attributed to only a language especially for” English” but it is required for all the subjects too. To improve this tactful skill the curriculum designers should have to incorporate strategies such as group discussions, panel discussions, role plays and mock parliaments for developing communicative skill in the school.

It is noticeable thing that communication skills take a lifetime to master; but mastering the communication skills can helps all aspects of life such as professional and social life. We are aware that communications are two types namely verbal, non-verbal and communication skills. These skills may vary person to person and according situation to situation. To become an effective communicator, one must stick to principle “PUSH” (Practice until Success Happens).

To transform the young generations as best communicators the classroom should have to become an interactive platform. Though, the new trends are incessantly flooding the arena of education, yet the traditional practices are followed by the teaching tribe at high school level. Literally the classroom hasn’t playing an effective role in promoting the communication school irrespective of its medium of instruction. It is well said by an academician that “A classroom with engaged means learning takes place”.

Today it has become very easy to engage the students with the support of technological interventions (Interactive websites) and designing individual and collaborative assignments (Project works and micro research). Further, we should keep in our mind that no tailor-made material to be supplied to the younger generation except guiding the act which will realize the remark of Pearl SBuck” Self-expression must pass into communication for its fulfillment”.

To make our younger generation more involved in good social relationships the school should have to shoulder the responsibility of converting them as good communicators. For the improvisation of communication skill “9C technique “ is an employable in which 9C s are Cause, Capacity, Context, Content, Channel ,Clarity, Co-Operation, Credibility and Common Sense. This technique will promote efficiency and reduce deficiency in communication.

The known 4 barriers for communication are

1) Judging other person.
2) Not paying attention to the person you are talking to
3) Using technical language
4) Avoiding concerns of others.

But, to become an effective communicator one should focus on these skills.
