E-Waste management awareness programme held

Hyderabad: An E-Waste Management Awareness and action programme was organised at Bharathi Vidya Bhavan High School, Ganganagar, Amberpet by Sahara, a voluntary organisation under auspicious of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). Speaking on this occasion Sahara Director R. Narsing Rao said that the electronic devices, dead cells and batteries thrown away with other garbage contain lead that easily mixes with underground water, making it unfit for direct consumption.
It is causing threat for healthy life not only to the human beings but also to the mother earth. The reason for e-waste is increasing is that technology is growing fast and in an attempt to get better devices, casually we get rid of old electronics, the best examples being that of smart phones.
Thus, everything that falls into E waste category includes computers, laptops, tablets, smart phones and so on. There are proper methods to dispose off electronic items, they should be handled differently, and suggested to collect and send it to recycling and refurbishing units.
The students have been asked to launch a campaign for a week in creating awareness and collecting E-waste among their parents, near and dears. This collected e-waste will be sent for recycling units to safeguard the Environment. Rubeena, Principal and staff of Bharathi Vidya Bhavan High School and K. Rama, Sahara program coordinator appreciated the students for participating in the E-Waste Management week.
