Hyderabad: Tara Suresh Kumar, a retired teacher has penned a book called ‘Happy Morphosis’. It is the author’s attempt to take you across the boulevard in the pursuit of happiness. It aims at influencing the reader to develop a more positive outlook and mindset in the hope that they too will be living examples reflecting a happier and more beautiful society. Her attempt is to gently prod the reader to work on the different facets required for everlasting bliss.

According to the author, Tara Suresh Kumar who had been in the teaching field for over three decades, her experiences and interactions with students and adults prompted her to write this book. She strongly feels that schools should concentrate more on the mental and physical wellbeing of the students rather than focusing solely on academic excellence.

As she explains: ‘My book touches upon the various values we, as individuals, need to focus and work upon to become better versions of ourselves. As a teacher I have always believed that when one relates personal experience, the listener is able to understand situations better. Hence, I have included personal anecdotes to emphasise on the values. Furthermore, affirmations have been added at the end of most chapters to reinforce a positive approach to life’.

Influenced by writers like Louise Hay, Wayne Dyer and Rhonda Byrne, she stresses on the importance of positive thinking, appreciation, mindfulness, empathy and gratitude. Happiness according to her can be learnt. The daily practice of daily affirmations, she says, is very effective.

Tara had her schooling at the Doveton Corrie Girls High School in Chennai. She later pursued her graduation in Hyderabad. A passionate teacher at heart, she has enjoyed teaching English across reputed school in Hyderabad, finally retiring as a Principal. Apart from completing an online course from UC Berkeley on The Science of Happiness, she had introduced the happiness curriculum in the school she was heading. Fond of self-help books, travelling and meeting people, she hopes this maiden attempt will benefit all those who are in the earnest quest for happiness.

The launch of the book Happy Morphosis was organised at a star hotel recently. Published by Notion Press, it is available online.
