Srujan, the cultural club of the School of Gandhian Studies at GITAM Deemed to be University was inaugurated here on Wednesday by Columbia University Fulbright Visiting Scholar and renowned Kuchipudi Dancer Lalitha Sindhuri While addressing the students Sindhuri spoke about appreciation of Indian culture and how important it is for one to stay connected to ones roots

Visakhapatnam: Srujan, the cultural club of the School of Gandhian Studies at GITAM Deemed to be University was inaugurated here on Wednesday by Columbia University Fulbright Visiting Scholar and renowned Kuchipudi Dancer Lalitha Sindhuri . While addressing the students Sindhuri spoke about appreciation of Indian culture and how important it is for one to stay connected to one’s roots. Sreejesh Namboothiri, a renowned Mridangam artist also performed during the inauguration of the Club and illustrated the various taalas in Indian Classical Music. The students showcased their talents through several art forms including poetry, poster making and semi-classical dance forms like Thiruvadirai.

The event was attended by Prof. Sushil Mittal, a visiting Professor from James Madison University, Edward Paul of INTACH and Geetha Somayajula, a Fulbright Scholar from University of Southern California at Los Angeles. Srujan Cultural Club Coordinator Dr. B. Sruthy briefed about the upcoming events. GITAM School of Gandhian Studies In-Charge Director Dr.B.Nalini presented memento to Lalitha Sindhuri.
