Hyderabad: Members of Osmania University Teachers Association (OUTA) along with AP Federation of University Teachers Association (APFUTA) staged a dharna outside the administrative building of OU here on Thursday demanding ‘justice on their issues which have been pending for the past several years’.

Their demands include payment of arrears of 2006 pay scale, extension of employees’ health scheme to University teachers, enhancement of age of superannuation to 65 or at least 62 years, recruitment of vacancies of teachers in universities, payment of arrears to retired employees and enhancement of block grants to the varsities.
“The state government has released 27 per cent interim relief to its employees where as in our case, the arrears of seven years is yet too cleared. Similarly, UGC itself clarified that the retirement age could be up to 65 years. But in our case, the age of superannuation is just 60 years. More than 50 per cent posts are to be filled in most of the state universities. If these issues are not resolved, we will intensify our agitation” Prof. Battu Satyanarayana, President of OUTA warned.
