Hyderabad: It was a dismal show by students from Andhra Pradesh in the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the University Grants Commission, the results of which were declared on Monday night. A total of 631 candidates for lectureship and 120 aspirants for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) were qualified in the exam that was held on December 29 last year.

As many as 22,310 students have registered for the NET but only 18,861 candidates have turned up for the exam.
Looking at all India figures, as many a total of 24,865 candidates were qualified out of 5,32,043 candidates who appeared for the test.
NET was being conducted twice a year for lectureship and JRF. In the NET conducted in December, 21,116 were qualified for Assistant Professorship and 3,749 for JRF. Those who qualified for JRF are also eligible for lectureship (Assistant Professor job).
In most of the national level faculty recruitments, UGC’s NET is being taken as basis. Since in AP, State Eligibility Test (SET) is conducted and taken as basis for recruitments, UGC’s NET is not much sought after, according to observers.
The e-certficates of qualifying candidates can be downloaded on the user profile created by the candidates while filling and submitting their online application forms.
“Any grievances with regard to answer key(s) even after declaration of the result, can be sent through a written request as per prescribed proforma uploaded on the website supporting their stand with proof from standard books / literature along with a Demand Draft of Rs 5,000,” UGC said.
